Restoring Chats and Messages for a Teams User to a File Location

You can restore personal chats, multiple user chats, meeting chats, and individual messages for a specific user to a file location. Direct messages and Teams items cannot be selected together for one restore operation. You can only restore user items or Teams items in one operation.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

    The Office 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the app.

    The Overview page of the app appears.

  3. On the Teams tab, select the check box for the user whose chats you want restore, and at the top-right area of the page, select Restore > Restore items.

    The browse data page appears.

  4. In the right pane, select the chats or messages that you want to restore, then click the action button action_button and select Restore. You can also use the search feature to find users.

    The Restore options dialog box appears.

  5. To restore chats and messages, enter the following information:

    1. In the Restore destination list, select File location.

    2. Beside Server, select the computer that you want to restore the chats and messages to.

    3. Beside Path, enter the destination path for the restored chats and messages.

  6. To include chats or messages that were recently deleted, under Advanced options, select Include deleted items.

  7. To view a list of chats you selected for restore, expand the Selected items for restore section.

  8. Click Submit.
