Create a User-Defined Subclient for the Network Share

To specify the content that you want to back up, create a user-defined subclient.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Files.

The file servers Overview page appears.

  2. On the Files tab, in the Name column, click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. In the Protocols table, in the Protocol column, click the CIFS or NFS protocol.

    The protocol page appears.

  4. On the Subclients tab, click Add subclient.

The General page of the Add subclient configuration wizard appears.

General

  1. In the Subclient name box, type a name for the subclient.

  2. By default, the Backup set is set to defaultBackupSet.

  3. Click Next.

The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.

Plan

  1. From the Plan list, select the backup plan to use for the subclient.

The backup plan specifies where the backed-up data is stored, the recovery point objective (RPO), and the data retention period.

  2. Click Next.

The Content page of the configuration wizard appears.

Content

  1. For Content, click Add and then click Browse or Custom Path to specify the content that you want to back up.

By default, the content browse for NFS (FS under NAS) will be in automounted format. For example, file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path/.

For Amazon EFS shares, the subclient content can either be a mounted path or auto-mount format. For mounted path content, enter the same path where you mounted the Amazon EFS share on the Linux computer.

  2. Under Exclusions, click Add and then click Browse or Custom Path to exclude files and directories that you do not want to back up.

  3. For CIFS subclients, enable Impersonate user to use a saved user credential to access the network share.

    • Click Edit against Impersonation account.

The Impersonate user dialog box appears.

    • From the Credential list, select existing credentials or create new credentials.

      Steps to add new credentials

To add credentials to the Credential Manager, click the plus button (+), and then specify the following in the Add Credential dialog box.
