If the status of the FPolicy is ON, you can recall archived files from stubs by using the Windows Explorer. You must initiate recalls from a non-proxy client.
Before You Begin
-
Verify that the Impersonate User login credentials given in during configuration is added to the Administrators group on the NetApp file server.
-
Verify that the proxy computer resides on the same domain as that of the NetApp file server.
-
If you are using a file server version of 8.0.1, we recommend you to upgrade the version to 8.0.2.
-
If you have Windows 2008 operating system, make sure that you specify the fully qualified domain name to authenticate the proxy computer with the NetApp file server.
-
On the proxy computer, verify if the following are configured:
-
Firewall is disabled.
-
NetBIOS over TCP is enabled.
-
File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks is enabled.
-
In the Network access: Named Pipes that can be accessed anonymously setting, specify the pipe names, ntapfprq and ntapfpcp. The Network access: Named Pipes that can be accessed anonymously setting is available at the following location:
GPO_name\Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options.
For more information, see Network access: Named Pipes that can be accessed anonymously.
- To enable stub recall when stubs are migrated or replicated to a NetApp file server, FPolicy proxy configuration is required
Example
If stubs are created on Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP and replicated to FlexCache, follow these steps to enable recall from FlexCache:
-
Configure FlexCache as a NetApp archive client.
-
Set the content path to an empty folder
-
Run an archive job. This registers the proxy with the NetApp filer, enabling recalls through the proxy.
-
Disable archive activity on the client or subclient to prevent further archiving.
-
Procedure
-
Log on to a client computer that has UNC access to the stubs on the file server, or has a mapped network drive to the share.
-
From Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder that contains stubs.
-
Double-click a stub.
It might take a few minutes for the recovered file to appear.
