Create multiple copies of the data or log backups by using the RMAN commands. During a restores operation, if one of the copies is missing or corrupted, the restore operation automatically performs a failover to the other copy and can then restore the data.
Procedure

Edit the Oracle pfile or SP file and set the BACKUP_TAPE_IO_SLAVES initial parameter to TRUE.

Configure device type. On the RMAN command line, type the following command.

RMAN> CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARALLELISM $[2] BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET; -
Specify two copies of data. On the RMAN command line, type the following command.
Example
RMAN> CONFIGURE $[DATAFILE] BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO $[2]; -
Specify two copies of log backups. On the RMAN command line, type the following command.

RMAN> CONFIGURE $[ARCHIVELOG] BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO $[2]; -
Add the environmental variables for the client and instance where the Oracle instance is installed. On the RMAN command line, type the following command.
