Installing the CommServe Failover Package on an Existing Linux CommServe in Silent Mode

If you already have a CommServe server that you want to use as the production CommServe host, then you must install only the CommServe Failover package.

Before You Begin

• Make sure that the CommServe is installed before installing the CommServe Failover package.

• Verify that the prerequisites needed to setup the environment are available before setting up the CommServe LiveSync feature. For more information, see Planning for the CommServe LiveSync Setup in a Linux Environment.

Procedure

1. Copy the custom package to the server in which you plan to setup a standby CommServe host.

2. Navigate to the location where the custom package was copied, and install the packages in the silent mode using the following command:

3. To install a fail over instance on an existing production CommServe node, convert a regular CommServe node to an active CS node using the following command:

   /silent_install -pkgs 1024 -commcelluser $[user_name] -commcellpassword $[CommCell_password] -cshost $[IP_address]
   

   Where:

   • <user_name> is the username of the CommCell user.

   • <Commcell_password> is the password of the CommCell user.

   • <IP_address> is the IP address of the CommServe host.
