VMW0056: MediaAgent and VSS Provider has to be installed to Enable Snap Backups

Symptom

If a virtualization client for a vCenter also has a File System iDataAgent installed, you cannot enable IntelliSnap on the client. The following error message is displayed when you select Enable IntelliSnap on the General tab of the Advanced Client Properties dialog.

Resolution

1. Create a new virtualization client for the vCenter directly under Client Computers. Name it differently than the original virtualization client.

2. On the newly created virtualization client, configure the vCenter connection:

   1. From the CommCell Console, navigate to Client Computers > virtualization_client > Virtual Server.

   2. Right-click the VMware object and select Properties.

   3. On the Virtual Server Instance Properties > General tab, click Change and enter the vCenter credentials.

   4. Click OK.

3. On the newly created virtualization client, enable IntelliSnap:

   1. From the CommCell Console, navigate to Client Computers.

   2. Right-click the virtualization client and select Properties.

   3. Click Advanced.

   4. On the Advanced Client Properties dialog (General tab), select Enable IntelliSnap.

   5. Click OK.
