Create a VMware vSphere cleanroom site

Create a VMware vSphere cleanroom site the specifies the target VMware environment where VMs are restored.

Start the add cleanroom site wizard

  1. In the Command Center navigation pane, go to Secure > Cleanroom recovery.

  2. On the Cleanroom sites tab, click Add cleanroom site.

  3. Select VMware vCenter.

  4. Click Next.

General page

  1. Enter a name for the cleanroom site.

  2. For Destination hypervisor, you can leave Create new to have Commvault create a hypervisor for you, or you can select an existing hypervisor.

  3. Enter the hostname or IP address of the vCenter server.

    Use a non-default vCenter port

If your vCenter server uses a non-default port, append the port number to the host name. For example, vc.example.com:1500.

  4. Create credentials with the username and password for the vCenter user account that has the role you created in Create VMware permissions for Commvault using a PowerShell script.

  5. For Access nodes, select Automatic.

If your environment has multiple networks or if you need to control where backup data is transferred from, select a specific access node.

You can also add a Windows or Linux access node.

If you might need to restore VMs when vCenter is unavailable (for example, restoring the vCenter VM), make sure you can access a restore destination without vCenter, such as a reachable ESXi host.

  6. For Security, select the user or group to give access for the cleanroom site to.

  7. Specify whether to add a prefix or suffix to the names of the recovered resources.
