Client Information Checklist for Interactive Recovery Using 1-Touch for Linux

To perform an interactive recovery using 1-Touch for Linux, you must create a Client information checklist before starting the restore operation. You can also use Client configuration stored on Command Center to create a Client information checklist.

Create a checklist that contains the following Client information:

Required Information How to find it
  • Client Name
  • Host Name
  1. From the navigation pane, navigate to Protect > Files > Overview. Go to the Files tab.
  2. Click the file server to view the Overview tab.
    You can view the Client Name and Host Name here.
  • IP Address
  • Net Mask
  • Gateway Address
Obtain IP address, Net Mask, and Gateway address of the interface of the Client that is used to communicate with the CommServe.
Example:
  1. Log in to Client computer using the root login and password.
  2. Type ifconfig.
  3. Note down inet addr and Mask for eth0
DNS Server address
  1. Log in to Client computer using the root login and password.
  2. Type cat/etc/resolv.conf.
  3. Note down the IP address for the server.
CommServe and MediaAgent Information
CommServe Hostname
  1. From the navigation page, go to Manage > Infrastructure > Servers.
  2. Click the server to view the Overview tab.
    You can view the CommServe Host Name here.
CommServe IP Address
  1. Log in to CommServe using the administrator credentials.
  2. Open the Command Prompt or the Terminal.
  3. Type ipconfig for Windows and ifconfig for Linux gateways.
    You can view the CommServe IP address here.
CommCell credentials Use the same username and password that you use to log in to Command Center.
Firewall Port Number You will need this information only when the firewall is set between the CommServe and the Client.
  1. From the navigation page, go to Manage > Infrastructure > Servers.
  2. Click the server, and then go to the Configuration tab.
  3. On the Network settings tile, you can view the firewall port number.
MediaAgent Name
  1. From the navigation pane, navigate to Protect > Files > Overview. Go to the Files tab.
  2. Click the file server to view the Overview tab.
  3. On the Protection Summary tile, click the plan name.
    The plan Overview page appears.
  4. On the Storage Policies tile, in the Copies Table, click Storage Policy Name.
    The Storage Policy page appears.
  5. Click the Backup Location tab to view Associated MediaAgents Name.
