Getting Started with Unified Data Vault for Tenants

Create Unified Data Vaults to back up applications using S3-compatible APIs.

Prerequisites

Ensure you have the following:

  • F&O SKU (Files and Objects)

  • Storage SKU: Bundled Storage or Air Gap Protect (AGP)

  • S3 endpoint URL provided by your MSP administrator

Tenant Setup Workflow

Step 1: Access Service Catalog

Navigate to Service Catalog > Configure > Create S3 Vault.

Step 2: Create or Reuse a Plan

Create or select a deduplication-enabled server plan. See Creating a Server Plan.

  • AGP (SaaS): Select Air Gap Protect storage and region. Hosted MediaAgent infrastructure provisions automatically.

  • Bundled Storage or BYOS: Ensure a Linux MediaAgent is deployed in your workload region.

Step 3: Create or Reuse Storage

Configure storage:

  • Bundled Storage: Select existing allocation.

  • AGP Storage: Select Air Gap Protect with preferred region.

Step 4: Create Unified Data Vault

Create your vault and associate it with the plan, storage, and user or group. See Creating a Unified Data Vault.

Step 5: Generate Access Keys

Generate and securely store access keys. See Managing Access Keys.

  • Access Key ID
  • Secret Access Key

Step 6: Configure Your Application

Configure your S3-compatible application with:

  • BUCKET: Vault name

  • AWS_ACCESS_KEY: Access Key ID (Step 5)

  • AWS_SECRET_KEY: Secret Access Key (Step 5)

  • S3_ENDPOINT: Endpoint URL from MSP administrator

Step 7: Start Backing Up

Start backing up using standard S3 APIs. Data is automatically deduplicated and compressed. See Supported APIs.
