Modifying the Number of Streams for Backups

You can modify the number of streams to increase the speed of backup operations for subclients. Configuring multiple streams for data backups allows the Commvault software to use the same number of streams during restore.

Commvault is using optimal number of streams for backup for new instances and new subclients by default. Option is controlled by Use optimal number of backup streams toggle. Number of streams to use is decided according size of biggest database in subclient, used for all contents of subclient during backup and being auto adjusted if subclient contents changes.

Less than 500 GB

2 streams

4 streams

8 streams
