Restoring Access Control Lists (ACLs) Using the Windows File System Agent

You can restore ACLs for your backed up data.

Before You Begin

You must have a backup run successfully with the ACLs configured subclient.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Client Computers > client > File System > backup set.

  2. In the right pane, right-click a subclient, and click Browse and Restore.

  3. In the Browse and Restore dialog box, click View Content.

  4. Select the data that you want to restore, and click Recover All Selected.

  5. On the Restore Option General tab, choose how you want to restore the data.

  6. In the right pane of the Client Browse window, select the data that you want to restore, and click Recover All Selected.

  7. On the Restore Option General tab, make any one of the following selections:

    • To restore only the ACLs and apply it to an existing data on the client computer, select Restore ACLs Only .

    • To restore both ACLs and data to a particular destination on the client computer, select Restore Both Data and ACLs.

    • To restore only the data and then you can inherit permissions from the parent directory in the destination, select Restore Data Only.

  8. On the Restore Option Job Initiation tab, choose how you want to initiate the restore jobs.

  9. Optional: To further customize the restore operation, click Advanced.

    To determine which combination of options is required to meet your needs, refer to Restore Options.

  10. Click OK.

Result

Once the restore is complete, backed up data selected on the right pane of the Client Browse window is restored to the specified destination with the ACLs.
