Restoring a Raw Device File to a Different Client (Out of Place Using a Map File)

You can restore a raw device file to a different client (out of place using a map file).

Before You Begin

Verify that the destination device is unmounted state.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Console, go to Client Computers > client > File System.

2. Right-click the backup set, and then go to All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

   The Browse and Restore dialog box appears.

3. Click View Content.

4. Select the raw device data from the right pane.

5. Click Recover All Selected.

   The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

6. Select the Data in device node check box.

7. Select the Overwrite files check box, and then select Unconditional Overwrite.

8. Optional. To change the destination client for restore device file, from the Destination Client list, select the destination client.

9. Clear the Restore to same folder check box.

10. Beside the Specify destination path box, click Browse, and then select the path on the device.

11. Click Advanced.

    The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

12. On the Map tab, select the Use map file check box.

13. Beside the Map File Path box, click Browse, and then select the map file.

14. Click OK to close the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.

15. Click OK to start the restore.

    You can track the progress of the job from the Job Controller.
