Installation and Configuration for Commvault Plug-In for VMware vSphere Web Client (HTML5 Version)

Before installing and configuring the Commvault plug-in for vSphere Client, review the operations and requirements.

High-Level Operations

Installing and configuring the plug-in includes the following high-level operations:

  • Configuring the vCenter server as a hypervisor in the Command Center.

  • Configuring user definitions in the CommCell Console and in vSphere.

  • Using the Command Center to register the plug-in.

  • Configuring access to the plug-in through the vCenter.

  • Customizing security settings for the web browser.

Requirements

  • Obtain the host name or the IP address and the administrator credentials for the vCenter server.

  • After registering the plug-in for the first time, restart the vSphere Web Client service.

  • To enable HTTPS for the Command Center, obtain a CA-signed certificate.

    In test environments, you can use a self-signed certificate.

  • Obtain credentials to log on to Command Center.

  • vCenters in enhanced linked mode (nested) environments are not supported.
