Enabling Event Viewer Alerts on Commvault VTL 2.0 Library

Event Viewer alerts can be enabled on Commvault VTL 2.0 library.

Procedure

  1. Install the File System Core package on the VTL host.

    For more information about installing the File System Agent, see Planning a Client Installation on UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh Computers.

    For more information about the available installation methods, see Installation Methods.

  2. Once the package is installed, login to the VTL host and navigate to the following folder:

    /commvaultvtl/etc

  3. Edit the commvault.conf file and add the following entries/values:

    EventNotifyCmd=/commvaultvtl/scripts/evscript.sh
  4. Reload the configuration file using the following command:

    # /commvaultvtl/bin/vtconfig --reload
  5. If you have a firewall between the VTL host and the CommServe and/or MediaAgents, setup a one-way direct connection using a predefined network topology. For more information, see Setting Up a One-Way Direct Connection (Client to Server) Using a Predefined Network Topology - Client Type is Servers.

Result

The following alerts will be displayed in the Event Viewer, when the conditions occur:

  • Available space in pool [ ] is less than [ ]. Configured size: [ ], free: [ ].

  • Write to [ ] failed due to an out of space condition. Pool configured size: [ ], free: [ ]

  • Drive [ ] in VTL [ ] unmounted. Mount statistics: Bytes written [ ], compressed [ ], deduplicated [ ], Bytes read [ ], uncompressed [ ]
