Restoring a DB2 Backup to a Point in Time

Use a point in time restore operation to revert the database to a state before an undesired transaction or before a point of failure.

Before You Begin

  1. Verify that the DB2 archive log path and the DB2 retrieve path are empty.

  2. Empty the DB2 online log path.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > DB2 > instance.

  2. Right-click the backup_set, point to All Tasks,and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore dialog box appears.

  3. Select Latest Backup, and then click Time Range.

  4. Select the Absolute Time option, and then enter a date and a time in End Time.

    The default time zone is the client time zone. For all other agents, the default time zone is the CommServe computer time zone.

  5. On the Browse view, select the data to restore in the right pane, and then click Recover All Selected.

    The Restore Options dialog box appears.

  6. On the Recover Database tab, select the Point-in-Time option, and then enter the date and time.

  7. Optional: Restore from a copy precedence:

    1. Click Advanced.

      The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

    2. On the Copy Precedence tab, select the Restore from copy precedence check box. From the Copy Precedence list, select the copy precedence number.

    3. Click OK.

  8. Click OK.
