Create a User-Defined Subclient for the Network Share

To specify the content that you want to back up, create a user-defined subclient.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The file servers Overview page appears.

  2. On the File Servers tab, in the Name column, click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. In the Protocols table, in the Protocol column, click the CIFS or NFS protocol.

    The protocol page appears.

  4. On the Subclients tab, click Add subclient.

    The General page of the Add subclient configuration wizard appears.

General

  1. In the Subclient name box, type a name for the subclient.

  2. By default, the Backup set is set to defaultBackupSet.

  3. Click Next.

    The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.

Plan

  1. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the subclient.

    The server plan specifies where the backed-up data is stored, the recovery point objective (RPO), and the data retention period.

  2. Click Next.

    The Content page of the configuration wizard appears.

Content

  1. For Content, click Add and then click Browse or Custom Path to specify the content that you want to back up.

    By default, the content browse for NFS (FS under NAS) will be in automounted format. For example, file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path/.

  2. Under Exclusions, click Add and then click Browse or Custom Path to exclude files and directories that you do not want to back up.

  3. To access the data using pre-defined user credentials, in the Impersonation account field, click Edit and then select the user credentials or add new credentials by clearing the Saved credentials check box.

  4. Click Submit.
