Enabling Command Line (cvc) Interface Operations for Virtual Server Agent

To perform command line (cvc) interface operations for the Virtual Server Agent (VSA), you must collect end-user ACLs and then enable file indexing for backups.

Before You Begin

  • File System and Python SDK packages are required to back up VMs.

  • If the VM is backed up using the Virtual Server Agent and cvc is used to perform only browse and restores of files, install the File System package as a restore-only agent.

For information about installing restore-only agents, see Installation of Restore Only Agents.

Procedure

  1. To perform a find operation from the Commvault End-User Command Line Interface (cvc), you must collect end-user ACLs by adding an entity setting, and then enable the Index files after backup option.

    1. Add the entity setting to the File Recovery Enabler for Linux (FREL) where the cataloging job runs as follows:

      Setting

      What to specify

      Name

      nCollectSIDInfoOnUnix

      Category

      FileSystemAgent

      Value

      1

    2. From the Command Center, on the Configuration tab of the VM group, enable the Index files after backup option.

For more information, see Enabling File Indexing for Virtual Machines.

  2. To enable command line (cvc) interface operations for the Virtual Server Agent (VSA), you must add an entity setting.

    1. Add the nAgentType entity setting at the VM level as follows:

Property

Value

Name

nAgentType

Category

CommvaultSDKForPython

Value

2
