The Commvault software supports file system backup copy operations for MongoDB backups.
Note
-
For LVM snapshots, an inline backup copy is triggered after the snap backup is complete. The snapshot retention for LVM snapshot copy must be set to 0 days in the server plan associated with the MongoDB cluster.
-
For hardware snapshots, the backup copy is triggered based on the Backup copy RPO defined in the server plan associated with the cluster. An access node can be configured for the backup copy operation. For information on access node requirements, see Access Node Requirements for Backup Copy Operations.
The software does the following:
-
Classifies the job type as FULL
-
Mounts the snapshots
-
Clones the snapshot device and creates the volume group and logical volumes to mount the snapshot
-
Queries the index that is created by the snapshot to identify files to back up to a tape library or a magnetic library, and generates a collect file for the backup copy
-
Backs up the files to either a tape library or a magnetic library
-
Unmounts the snapshot
-
Archives the index that is created for the backup copy operations
