To use the Virtual Server Agent with Azure, you must create a virtualization client for the Azure subscription. If you have multiple Azure subscriptions, you must create a different virtualization client for each one.
If your environment includes both Azure Classic and Azure Resource Manager (ARM), you must configure separate virtualization clients for Classic and ARM.
Configuring the virtualization client automatically creates a default backup set and default subclient.
You can back up virtual machines using the default subclient or create a new subclient to protect a specific subset of virtual machines.
After you have created your virtualization client(s), for best results with your backups: Enable service endpoints for Microsoft Storage on the Azure virtual network subnet where the proxy and MediaAgent are connected. This will ensure that all network traffic from the proxy machine to the Azure storage account is securely flowing through the Microsoft Azure backbone network. For more information, see Microsoft Azure: Virtual Network service endpoints.
