After you install the File System and Cloud Apps package on a proxy client computer, configure the following components.
-
Virtual client
-
Instances
-
Subclients
Virtual Client Configuration
A virtual client is the interface that protects your Azure Blob Storage data.
For more information on how to create an Azure Blob Storage virtual client, see Creating an Azure Blob Storage Virtual Client.
Instance Configuration
An instance is a logical entity used to manage backup and restore operations for Azure Blob Storage data.
The Commvault software creates a default instance automatically when you add a virtual client on the CommCell Console. You can create additional instances to manage different Azure Blob Storage service accounts.
For more information on how to create an Azure Blob Storage instance, see Creating Azure Blob Storage Instances.
Subclient Configuration
Create a subclient for the Azure Blob Storage data blobs and containers that you want to protect.
For more information on how to create a subclient, see Creating a Subclient to Back Up Specific Blobs or Containers.
Azure File Share
You can also back up Azure File Shares by providing the Azure File Share URL (file.core.windows.net) when you create an Azure Blob Storage virtual client from the CommCell Console.
For more information on how to create an Azure File Share virtual client, see Creating an Azure Blob Storage Virtual Client.
