Configuring an External Mail Server

You configure an external email server (for example, Gmail, Yahoo, or an ISP-provided SMTP) to send emails.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Console ribbon, on the Home tab, click Control Panel.

    The Control Panel window appears.

  2. Under Maintenance, click EMail, Web and FTP Server.

The EMail, Web and FTP Server dialog box appears.

  3. On the E-Mail Server tab, in the Mail Server box, enter the name of the mail server, for example, smtp.gmail.com or smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

  4. In the Mail Server Port box, enter 587.

The default port is 25, but when Enable SSL is selected, port 587 must be used.

  5. Click the Use Authentication check box.

  6. In the User Name box, type a valid name recognized by the specified mail server.

  7. Enter and confirm the password associated with the user name.

  8. Select the Enable SSL check box to enable Secure Socket Layers to access the mail server.

  9. Click Test Mail to send a test e-mail.

  10. From the Test Mail Confirm message, click OK.

If you receive the test e-mail, click OK to the success message. If you did not receive the e-mail, an error message appears.

  11. Click OK.

  12. On the CommServe computer, restart the Server Event Manager (EvMgrS) service.

For instructions about restarting services, see Services.
