Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for the ContinuousDataReplicator.
Operating System
Important
Use the most recent version of the operating system that is listed. The Commvault software fully supports the most recent version of an operating system, until the vendor ends support. More recent versions of the Commvault software might not install on operating systems that are not supported by the vendor anymore. For information about the support lifecycle of an operating system, contact the vendor.

Data protection on Logical Partitioning (LPAR) and Workload Partitioning (WPAR) is supported.

Important
-
If you have SELinux enabled on the client computer, create the SELinux policy module as a root user before performing a backup. The SELinux Development package must be installed on the client.
-
The source volume for a replication pair must be a local volume.
-
A compiled version of the CDR driver is supplied only for the versions and kernels in the following table. If you perform online updates of Linux, the supplied CDR driver might not load after a reboot because the kernel is updated to a new version. If you are installing the software on a computer that rybs Red Hat Linux 5 or a more recent version, then the file system on the computer must be compiled as a kernel module. For example, computers that run Red Hat Linux 5 with the ext2 file system do not support the ContinuousDataReplicator software, because the ext2 file system is built into the kernel. Conversely, computers that run Red Hat Linux 5 with the ext3 file system compiled as a kernel module do support the ContinuousDataReplicator software.

Important
Install the ContinuousDataReplicator on the global zone. Installation on non-global zones is not supported.
On the source computer, the ContinuousDataReplicator can be used to replicate data from any non-global zone.
On the destination computer, data can be replicated to a non-global zone through an exporting device from the global zone. For more information, see Data Replication on Non-Global Zones.
For a comprehensive list of supported components, see Unix Virtualization.

3 GB minimum of additional hard disk space on the source computer for replication log file growth. More is recommended. The maximum allowed is 80% of the total space on the file system. Note For important considerations about allocating replication log file space, see Data Replication. |
Clustering
If clustering is supported by the operating system, you can install the software on a cluster. For information about supported cluster types, see Support for Cluster Configuration.
Software That Is Automatically Installed
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017
Starting with Service Pack 18, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (vcredist2017.exe) is automatically installed.
If a computer does not have the most recent Windows updates, the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 will fail in installing Universal C Runtime. The following Windows updates must be installed to prevent the installation failure. The updates are not required on the most recent Windows operating system versions, such as Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows Server 2016, because these versions have the Universal C Runtime already installed.

.NET Framework
On most versions of Windows, the .NET Framework 4.7 is automatically installed.
