In the case of disaster recovery, when a full system restore is required, you must first rebuild the system to the exact state as it existed before the problem.
Procedure
-
Rebuild the hardware, if needed.
-
Install the same version of the Windows operating system with the same patches that were previously installed.
-
Configure the client with the same networking parameters and passwords that were previously set.
-
Edit the host file of the client to include the CommServe name.
-
Install the Windows File System Agent on the client.
In a clustered environment, you must reinstall to the same virtual node as was used previously.
To gather the required information for installing the File System Agent, see Preinstallation Checklist for the Windows File System Agent.
-
Perform a full system restore of the Windows File System Agent.
What to Do Next
After you rebuild the operating system, complete one of these tasks:
-
If the SQL Server instance starts, use the steps in Restoring the SQL Server Instance to restore the data.
-
If the SQL Server instance does not start, use the steps in Rebuilding the SQL Server Instance to rebuild the SQL Server Instance and then use the steps in Restoring the SQL Server Instance to restore the data.
