Review the guidelines and requirements, configure an Index Server Cloud, install NFS-Ganesha on Linux MediaAgent, and then configure the CommCell environment.
Step 1: Review the Hybrid File Store Guidelines and Requirements
-
Disk cache guidelines
For more information, see Hybrid File Store Disk Cache Size Guidelines.
-
Hardware Specifications
For more information, see Hybrid File Store: Hardware Specifications.
-
Required permissions
For more information, see Required Permissions for Hybrid File Store Operations.
-
Versioning rules
For more information, see Hybrid File Store Versioning Rules.
-
CommCell network requirements
Verify that the CommServe computer, the MediaAgent, and the Index Server are DNS-resolvable and can connect to each other. See CommCell Network Requirements.
Step 2: Configure an Index Server Cloud
Review the hardware specifications for your Index Server before you deploy the Hybrid File Store. For more information, see Hybrid File Store: Hardware Specifications.
Note
If you use the Command Center to create the Hybrid File Store, the Index Server cloud is automatically configured.
To configure the Index Server Cloud, install the Web Server or Index Gateway, the High Availability Computing package, and the Index Store package. (The Web Console and Web Server restore cache are not required for Hybrid File Store.) After the software is installed, create an HAC cluster, an Index Store pool, and an Index Server cloud. Add the NFS Index role to the Index Server cloud.
For instructions, see Getting Started with Index Server Cloud.
Step 3: For NFS, Install NFS-Ganesha on a Linux MediaAgent
To use the NFS protocol, install NFS-Ganesha on the Linux MediaAgent. If you plan to use the SMB protocol, skip this step. For SMB protocols, the software automatically installs the Dokany application on the MediaAgent.
Do one of the following:
-
Automatic installation
The CVInstallNetworkServer tool automatically installs the NFS-Ganesha server on the Linux MediaAgent. For more information, see CVInstallNetworkServer Tool.
If you performed this step successfully, then skip the manual installation instructions.
-
Manual installation
Download the NFS-Ganesha 2.8.2 for RHEL 7 version from the Commvault Store, and then follow the directions included in the install.txt file.
Step 4: Configure the CommCell Environment
-
Configure the Index Server Cloud.
Note
While creating the Index Server Cloud, add the NFS Index role. If you use the Command Center to create the Hybrid File Store, the Index Server is automatically configured.
-
If you use the CommCell Console or Command Line interface, configure a storage device and then create a storage policy. For more information, see the following:
If you use the <AdminConsole, create a server plan.
Associate the storage policy or the plan with the Hybrid File Store. You can use the same storage policy or plan for multiple Hybrid File Store shares.
-
Configure the disk cache on the Hybrid File Store server.
If you are configuring the Hybrid File Store from the Command Center, you can skip this step.
-
Create and manage Hybrid File Store shares:
-
To manage Hybrid File Store from the CommCell Console, see Hybrid File Store Management from the CommCell Console.
-
To manage Hybrid File Store from the command line interface, see Hybrid File Store Command Line Interface.
