Copy Data Path Candidates
Use this dialog box to select the data path candidate from the list.
The list of data paths displayed in this dialog box depends on the options selected in the Copy Properties (Data Paths) dialog box.
MediaAgent Name
The name of the MediaAgent.
Library
The name of the library attached to the MediaAgent.
Drive Pool
The name of the drive pool configured to access the library.
Scratch Pool
The scratch pool associated with the data path.
Data Path Properties
Use this dialog box to view the properties of the data path and to establish the data compression, hardware encryption and chunk and block sizes for the data path.
MediaAgent
The name of the MediaAgent used by the data path.
Library
The name of the library used by the data path.
Drive Pool
The name of the drive pool used by the data path.
Scratch Pool
The name of the scratch pool used by the data path.
Enabled
Indicates whether the data path is enabled or not.
Silo
Indicates whether the data path is configured for Silo storage.
Index Cache
The name of the Index Cache used by the data path.
Hardware Compression
If selected, hardware data compression is established for all data that is backed up through the data path. Hardware compression has priority over the software compression mode, which is established in the Storage Device (Data Transfer Option) dialog box in the Subclient Properties. (This option only applies when the library associated with the data path is a tape library.)
Note
Perform a full backup on all the subclients that are associated with the storage policy copy whenever you change the compression format to ensure that synthetic full jobs complete successfully.
Use Hardware Encryption
If selected, hardware encryption of data will be enabled if the tape drives associated with the data path support encryption.
Note
Enable this option only when the drives associated with the data path support encryption. If this option is enabled and the hardware does not support encryption, jobs using the data path will fail.
Use Encryption On Chunkmap Trailers
If hardware encryption is enabled, random encryption keys are generated for tape media. If you have selected the option to store the scrambled encryption keys on the media, these encryption keys are stored in the chunkmap trailer for catalog through Tape Catalog and restores through Media Explorer. Therefore, by default only the data chunks are encrypted. However, you can enable the hardware encryption of the chunkmap trailer by selecting the Use Encryption On Chunkmap Trailers option. After selecting this option, the encrypted data on the tape media can only be accessed through restore operations from the CommCell.
Note
If you enable chunkmap trailer encryption, the data cannot be restored by using the Media Explorer and the Tape catalog feature.
Direct Media Access (External Restore Tools)
The following options are available for key management, which is useful for recovering data. Note that by default a copy of the encryption key is stored in the CommServe database and will be used by all data recovery operations using the CommCell.

Via Media Password
When selected, this specifies that a copy of the encryption key will be stored in the media.
Note
Ensure to specify a valid Media Password when selecting this option.

No Access
When selected, encryption keys will not be stored on the storage media at all. This represents the highest media security level (regular CommCell Console or Database-driven recovery operations will still work).
Chunk Size (MB)
Chunk size applies to both disk media and tape media. The default chunk size for tape media in NDMP libraries is 8 GB. The default chunk size for disk media is 4 GB. Changes to chunk size settings take effect the next time the job is run.
When multiplexing streams to the same chunk, the chunk size that is used by all of the streams is determined by the first stream in the multiplex queue.

Use Application Setting
Specifies that the data path will use the chunk size configured for the agent in the Chunk Size tab of the Media Management Configuration dialog box available in the Control Panel. (Applies only to tape media; for disk media the system by default uses 4 GB as the chunk size.)

Use Specified Value
Specifies that the data path will use the specified value as the chunk size. This value will override the chunk size configured for a specific Agent, and the default for the disk. Use the space to type the new value.
Block Size (KB)
Block size applies only to tape media in direct-attached libraries.
Changes to the block size settings take effect when the next spare tape media is used.

Use Media Type Setting
Specifies that the data path will use the default block size to read/write to all media types.

Use Specified Value
Specifies that the data path will use the specified value as the block size. There are several considerations associated with changing the block size.

On disk libraries to Centera Clusters, a block size of 32 KB is always used and user-defined block sizes are not applicable.

If the source primary copy uses Hyperscale or Hedvig storage and the secondary copy points to the cloud storage on a Global Deduplication storage policy (GDSP), the block size value on the secondary copy automatically changes to the block size value on the source primary copy.
