Microsoft Azure Stack Hub Portal is a private cloud implementation of Microsoft Azure. The Azure Stack Hub Portal can be used to provide virtualization services for an organization, or by a service provider for tenant organizations.
You can use the Virtual Server Agent to support the following operations:
-
Perform IntelliSnap backup jobs and backup copy jobs of virtual machines and virtual disks hosted on the Microsoft Azure Stack Hub Portal.
-
Restore full virtual machines.
When the Virtual Server Agent creates new arrays, it uses the naming convention AzureStack-VSA-<ClientID>-<ClientName>.
Commvault data protection operations are managed through the CommCell Console. Use the CommCell Console to configure a virtualization client and other entities that are used to support operations.
A virtualization client is the access point for an Azure Stack Hub subscription. You must define a virtualization client for each Azure Stack Hub subscription.
When you create a virtualization client, the Commvault software automatically creates an Azure Stack Hub instance, a backup set, and a default subclient that can be used to protect all virtual machines. You can create additional subclients to perform separate protection operations for different groups of virtual machines. For example, you can create a different subclient for different guest operating systems, and use the default subclient to protect any remaining virtual machines that are not covered by user-defined subclients.
You can perform full, incremental, or synthetic full backups of virtual machines. The first backup of a virtual machine is always a full backup, regardless of the selected backup type.
