Interactive Installation Using the Installation Package on Windows Client

You can configure a direct connection from the client to the CommServe computer during an interactive installation using the Commvault installation package on a Windows client.

Procedure

  1. On the Server Information page of the installation wizard, enter the CommServe hostname port using one of the following formats:

    • Hostname (use this format if the tunnel port of the CommServe computer is 8403)

    • Hostname:Port_Number (use this format if the tunnel port of the CommServe computer is anything other than 8403)

      Note

      If you want to enter the port as an IPv6 address, use the following format: [2001:db8::216:cbff:xx:xx]:8080

  2. If the client is separated from the CommServe computer by an HTTP proxy, complete the following steps. Otherwise, skip these steps.

    1. On the Server Information page, select the Conect via local HTTP proxy. Proxy details can be entered on the next screen. check box, and then proceed to the next page.

    2. On the HTTP Proxy Information page, select one of the following options based on your network requirements:

      • Automatically detect HTTP proxy: Select this option if you want to auto-detect the global HTTP proxy settings or detect HTTP proxy settings that are used by the current user profile.

      • Autodetect proxy settings via WPAD: Select this option if you want to auto-detect the HTTP proxy details by checking the proxy auto-config (PAC) file using DNS or DHCP WPAD.

      • Provide HTTP proxy details: Select this option if you want to manually provide the HTTP proxy details.

    3. If you selected Provide HTTP proxy details, above, provide the following information:

      • In the HTTP Proxy Host Name or IP Address box, specify the host name or IP address of the HTTP proxy.

      • In the HTTP Proxy Port Number box, specify the port number of the HTTP proxy.

      • Proceed to the next page.

  3. Continue with the client installation.
