Replace MediaAgent app allows you to migrate a MediaAgent and the associated configurations (such as deduplicated database, disk library, and index cache) to a new MediaAgent computer.
Before You Begin

Import the Replace MediaAgent from CommVault Store. For more information, see Importing an App.

Verify that the installation package on new MediaAgent computer includes the same set of packages as the old MediaAgent computer.
To see the list of packages installed on a MediaAgent computer, in the CommCell Browser, right-click the MediaAgent client computer, and then go to View > Installed Software. -
If a local mount path is present in the MediaAgent computer, verify that your environment meets the prerequisites mentioned in Moving a Mount Path because the Replace MediaAgent app performs the move mount path operation to migrate disk libraries.
- If a deduplication database (DDB) in hosted on the MediaAgent computer, verify that your environment meets the prerequisites mentioned in Moving a Deduplication Database to Another MediaAgent because the Replace MediaAgent app performs the move deduplication database operation to migrate a DDB.
Procedure

Click Apps.
The My Apps page appears.

Click the Replace MediaAgent App.
The Replace MediaAgent dialog box appears.

From the Old MediaAgent list, select the old MediaAgent that want to migrate.

From the New MediaAgent list, select the new MediaAgent that you have installed.

Click OK.

If the old MediaAgent has any disk mount path configured, then the Move Mount Path dialog box appears.

From the Source Path list, select the path that you want to migrate.

From the Destination Path Type list, select a type.

In the Destination Path box, enter the path to which you want to migrate the selected source path.

If you selected Network Path as the Destination Path Type, then from the Network Path Credential list, select a credential.

Click Next.
If the old MediaAgent has more than one disk mount path configured, then the Move Mount Path dialog box appears again till you configure destination path for all the source mount paths.

If old MediaAgent has any deduplication database configured, then the Move DDB Partition dialog box appears.

Enter DDB Disk Path on New MediaAgent.

If the new MediaAgent has more than one deduplication database (DDB) disk configured, then click Add More, and then enter information of another DDB disk.

Repeat step b to add information of all additional DDB disks.

Click Done.
A dialog box appears with the details that you provided for your review.

Click Continue.

You can use the Job Controller to view the progress of the Replace MediaAgent job.

If you have any tape library configured on the old MediaAgent, then complete the following steps:

Disconnect the tape library from the old MediaAgent, and then connect the tape library to the new MediaAgent. Do not deconfigure the library from the CommCell Console.

On the new MediaAgent, detect the device and re-configure the library.
