NDMP Agent: System Requirements

The following requirements are for the NDMP Agent.

**The Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) 9.14 and 9.13P1 are not supported. If you are using AIQUM-based replication, Commvault recommends verifying support from NetApp Interoperability Matrix for ONTAP 9.14.1 and 9.15.1 with AIQUM 9.13 or older. For information on why certain AIQUM versions are not supported, see the NetApp KB articles CAIQUM-5577 and CAIQUM-6267.

Note

The AIQUM 9.13 version is supported only with specific NetApp patches. For information on the AIQUM version, see the NetApp article and contact NetApp.

Hard Disk

No minimum disk space requirement for installing the software. All required components are installed automatically with the MediaAgent software. There is no separate software to install for NAS Clients. See System Requirements - MediaAgent for information on install information specific to the MediaAgent.

2% of the backup size in free disk space is required for the job results directory. For example, if the backup is 40 GB, then you must have 0.8 GB of free space for the job results directory.

256 MB of free disk space is required for log directory.

MediaAgent Operating System

Only MediaAgents with the following operating systems can be used when performing data protection operations with NDMP agent data:

  • AIX

  • HP-UX

  • Linux (except Itanium varieties)

  • Solaris

  • Windows

Miscellaneous

File Server

If media changers and/or tape drives are attached to the file server, all hardware (including the SAN networking hardware) must be of a type supported by the file server.

Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017

Starting with Service Pack 18, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (vcredist2017.exe) is automatically installed.

If a computer does not have the most recent Windows updates, the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 will fail in installing Universal C Runtime. The following Windows updates must be installed to prevent the installation failure. The updates are not required on the most recent Windows operating system versions, such as Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows Server 2016, because these versions have the Universal C Runtime already installed.
