To set up a new MediaAgent, perform the following tasks in the order listed:

Install and configure the MediaAgent software on the new computer.
Use the same name and hostname of the old MediaAgent that is configured on the CommServe server.

If a disk library with a local mount path is configured on the MediaAgent, consider the following.

If the library disk is available, complete the following steps:

Detach the library disks from the old computer.

Attach the disk to the new MediaAgent computer.
-
Mount the disk on the same drive letter (for Windows) or same mounted path (for Linux).

If the library disk is not available, complete the following steps:
-
Configure a new mount path on the new MediaAgent computer.

Delete the old mount path that was configured on old MediaAgent computer.

If a deduplication database (DDB) is configured on the old MediaAgent computer, consider the following.

If the DDB disk is available, complete the following steps:

Detach the DDB disk from old MediaAgent computer.

Attach the disk to the new MediaAgent computer.
-
Mount the disk on the same drive letter (for Windows) or same mounted path (for Linux).

If the DDB disk is not available, Recover the Offline Deduplication Database (DDB) Partitions to the new MediaAgent computer.

If tape library is configured on the old MediaAgent computer, then migrate tape library to the new MediaAgent computer.
Note
The index will be automatically restored in the new MediaAgent after it is set up. You do not need to perform any additional step to restore the index.
