Commvault software provides the ability to protect Disaster Recovery (DR) backup folders paths from ransomware attacks.
When a DR backup is started, a local or network path is used as the export destination for copying the metadata of the SQL databases.
-
On Windows, ransomware protection for the DR backup folder path, both local or UNC, is enabled, by default. For more information see Ransomware Protection for DR Backup Folders on Windows.
-
On Linux, ransomware protection for the DR backup folder path must be enabled for the built-in Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) module to provide a mechanism for supporting access control security policies. The SELinux module contains pre-configured security policies to protect the DR backup folder from any ransomware. For more information see Ransomware Protection for DR Backup Folder on Linux.
