You can set up a data interface pair (DIP), also called a network pair, between a client group and a client using IPv4 or IPv6 network interfaces.
This type of dedicated backup network connects all clients within the client group with the target client (for example, a MediaAgent).
Before You Begin
Confirm that the client group that you are setting up already exists.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Console ribbon, click Control Panel.
The Control Panel window appears.
-
Click Data > Backup Networks.
The welcome page of the Backup Network Wizard appears.
-
Click Next.
-
In the Select 1st Computer list, select the client_group.
-
In the Select 2nd Computer list, select the client computer to which the clients that are members of the above group will connect through the DIP.
-
Click Next.
If the list has any entries, the "Interface on client_group" column will read "No Default Interface" for those entries. This means that it can select any interface on the client.
-
If the client-side interface that you want to use appears in the list, make sure its Status option is selected, click that interface, click Next, and then go to Step 8, below.
-
If the interface that you want to use does not appear in the list, perform the following steps:
-
Click Add.
-
In the Interfaces on client_group list, either leave the selection empty or as "No Default Interface" (meaning that it can select any interface on the client group), or use wildcard expressions or CIDR notation to enter a network range, as follows:
Note
Wildcard expressions and CIDR notation are not supported with cluster clients.
-
Wildcard examples:
10.*
10.0.*
fd01:1111:24:32:*
*.backup.com
-
CIDR examples:
10.0.0.1/8
192.168.100.14/24
fd01:1111:24:32:592c:2123:666d:973f/64
(Start Range: fd01:1111:24:32:0:0:0:0
End Range: fd01:1111:24:32:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff)
-
-
In the Interfaces on client list, either select the interface to use for this DIP, or enter a name or IP address of the interface to use for this DIP.
-
Click Next.
The new pair's Status is selected by default.
-
Click Next.
-
-
Review the details for the new pair, and then click Finish.
-
Click Yes to re-open the Backup Network Wizard, or click No to end this procedure.
