If you have static IP addresses for the HyperScale nodes, use the following steps to configure the network and register with the CommServe host.
Before You Begin
-
Ensure that you have separate subnets for the Data Protection network and for the StoragePool network.
-
Make sure that the host name and IP addresses configured for Data protection network and StoragePool Network exist in the DNS and are validated before setting up the HyperScale Storage pool.
-
Perform the checks listed in the Before You Begin section in Setting Up HyperScale Storage Nodes.
Procedure
-
Follow steps 1 through 8 described in Setting Up HyperScale Storage Nodes.
-
Navigate to the following folder:
cd /opt/commvault/MediaAgent
-
Execute the following command:
./setupsds
-
When prompted, provide the MediaAgent node name details as follows:
-
In the Hostname of the server box, type the MediaAgent node name.
Tip
Use Fully Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) for the hostname to avoid name resolution issues.
-
Provide a password for the node
-
-
When prompted with the following message in the wizard, select Setup.
Please select whether network needs to be configured. Setup Skip
If the network is already configured or if Static IP is used, select Skip. Proceed to Step 9.
-
Select the appropriate mode for network bonding and then select OK.
Mode0, Mode1 and Mode4 are supported.
-
Select a network interface for Data protection network and then select OK.
-
Enter the network configuration details for the selected interface, like IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS Server Name, with appropriate values.
-
Select a network interface for StoragePool Network and then select OK.
-
Enter the network configuration details for the selected interface, like IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS Server Name, with appropriate values. (Gateway and DNS Server Name is optional.)
-
You will be prompted to register with the CommServe host.
-
Type the CommServe host credentials to register the MediaAgent nodes with the CommServe host:
Note
If the CommServe is located behind a firewall, you must perform additional steps to connect to the CommServe. For more information, see Connecting to a CommServe behind a Firewall During Setup.
-
In the CommServe hostname box type the CommServe host name.
-
In the CommServe User name box type the CommCell login details.
-
In the CommServe password box, type the CommCell password.
-
Click OK.
This completes the setup on the node.
-
-
Repeat the above steps from the other HyperScale nodes in the block.
What To Do Next
-
Verify that all the MediaAgents, which will become a part of the StoragePool, are able to resolve the IP address associated with data protection network and the StoragePool network.
-
After all the nodes are setup and registered with the CommServe, create a HyperScale Storage Pool in the CommServe using the nodes. For more information see, Creating a HyperScale Storage Pool.
-
If a PXE server was used to install and setup the HyperScale Storage Nodes, make sure to disconnect the PXE network from the nodes.
