The Snap Configuration tab contains properties that control the behavior of the storage array in your environment.
Property |
Description |
---|---|
Storage Device Group |
The name of the physical storage pools that are created on the array that you want to use for snapshot (FlashCopy) operations. If you do not specify a device group, then the default storage pool is used for snapshot operations. The value that you enter cannot contain trailing spaces. Note From firmware 8.3.x, IBM has introduced an option called Volume protection, enabled by default. If volume protection is on, Commvault snapshot operations fail. If you are using firmware 8.3.X or later, either turn the volume protection feature off or create a separate pool or child pool for Commvault and turn the volume protection option off at the pool or child pool level. Add the newly created pool in the Storage Device Group property and select the Use Device only from this Group option. |
Use Device only from this Group |
If you select this option, then only snapshot devices that available in the storage pool that is specified in the Storage Device Group property are used. |
SMIS Server Port |
The value for the array Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) server port. The default value is 5989. |
Use secure connection to SMIS Server |
If you select this option, then the connection to the client uses secure socket layer (SSL). By default, this option is selected. |
Enable Thin Provisioning |
Enabling Thin Provisioning defines that the target volume type is thin. By default, Enabling Thin Provisioning is selected. If you clear this check box, then the definition of the target volume type depends on the following rules:
|
Enable Incremental Re-sync for FlashCopy |
Select this option to enable incremental FlashCopy, so that you can perform resynchronization operations. |
IOGroup Name |
A name for IOGroup for the FlashCopy target volume. By default, the IOGroup of the source volume and the target volume is the same and is presented to the host server by a single IOGroup of the cluster. |
Use Consistency Groups |
Select this option to enable the consistency group, which reduces the time to verify the consistency of participating disks. |
Cleaning Rate (Applicable only for FlashCopy/Clone) |
The cleaning rate value, between 1% and 150%, at which the cleaning process operates. The default value is 50. Note The default value for Cleaning Rate and Background Copy Rate is 50%. Increasing this value completes the background task faster, but decreases throughput. |
Background Copy Rate (Applicable only for FlashCopy/Clone) |
The copy rate value, between 1% and 150%, at which the background copy is performed. The default value is 50. Note The default value for Cleaning Rate and Background Copy Rate is 50%. Increasing this value completes the background task faster, but decreases throughput. |
Synchronous FlashCopy operation wait interval (in seconds) |
The maximum waiting time for the FlashCopy preparation. The default value is 30. |
Target Device Label Suffix |
The suffix for selecting the target FlashCopy. |
Use Labeled device only |
If you select this option, then devices that have matching labels are used for target FlashCopy. Note that, if no label match is found against the target volumes, then the FlashCopy job fails. |
Perform Smart Clone Operation |
If you select this option, then the FlashCopy is not monitored. |
Remote Snap MA |
The client name of the MediaAgent that you want to designate as the Remote Snap MediaAgent. |
