The following sections provide the details of the qualification test for the MediaAgent hardware and the expected minimum storage I/O performance for the MediaAgents.
The following are some of the major I/O tasks performed by the MediaAgents. Each of these functions have its own I/O profile and therefore a unique test is used for each function
-
Storage and lookups of unique data blocks on deduplication database (DDB). For more information see, Testing IOPS of Deduplication Database Disk on Windows and Testing IOPS of Deduplication Database Disk on Linux.
-
Writing data on the storage (disk) and reading the data from the storage (disk). For more information, see Testing IOPS for Disk Library Mount Paths with IOmeter and Disk Performance Tool.
-
Indexing operations of the backed up or archived data. For more information, see Index: Using IOPS for Testing Index Directory Performance.
-
Content indexing operation on selected backed up or archived data. For more information, see Testing IOPS of Search Engine Nodes with IOmeter.
The hardware requirements for the MediaAgent for Tape, Disk, Cloud Deduplication Database and Index Cache as described in Hardware Specifications for MediaAgent.
