SnapVault allows a secondary NetApp file server to store IntelliSnap snapshots. Multiple primary NetApp file servers can back up data to this secondary file server.
In the first backup, the complete contents of the source are transferred, to establish a baseline. In subsequent backups, only the changed blocks are transferred. After the first backup, snapshots of data on the destination volume are taken, and you can maintain the snapshots independently for recovery.
SnapMirror is a replication solution that you can use for disaster recovery, where the complete contents of a volume or a qtree are mirrored to a destination volume or a qtree.
For SnapVault replication and SnapMirror replication using the OnCommand Unifed Manager (OCUM) server, if the subclient contains data from multiple file server volumes, then a target volume is provisioned per source volume.
