Review the following system requirements for the MediaAgent that will be used as the iSCSI server for creating instant database clones.
Hardware Requirements
Components |
Requirements |
---|---|
CPU/RAM |
8 CPU cores or vCPUs, 32 GB RAM |
OS or Software Disk |
400 GB usable disk; minimum four spindles of 15K RPM or higher |
Cache Mount Volume |
The size of this volume space is based on how many database clones are created at a time multiplied by what is the maximum changed data between the incremental jobs for these databases. For example: if 10 database clones are created per day and the maximum changed data per day is 5 TB, then we need 10X5 TB space for the cache mount volume. |
Port Requirements
The default port is 3260. If you change the port number for the iSCSI server, restart Commvault services.
Supported Database Applications
The following databases support creating instant clones using an iSCSI server:
-
Oracle on Linux and AIX servers
The iSCSI initiator package must be installed on these database servers.
-
Microsoft SQL Server
Supported only with IntelliSnap backups for hardware engines that do not have the native clone capability.
-
DB2 on Linux
Supported Operating Systems for the iSCSI server
Linux - Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 7.2 and above
Note
Verify that you have the targetcli software package available on the iSCSI server.
Supported Operating Systems for Instant Clones
The following operating systems are supported for creating instant clones using an iSCSI server:
Operating System |
Operating System Version |
---|---|
Linux (for Oracle and DB2) |
Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS 7.2 with glibc 2.17.x |
Windows (for MS SQL) |
