Updating the Location of the Index Gateway Cache Directory

If the Index Gateway cache directory is corrupt or running out of available disk space, you can change the location of the Index Gateway cache directory to a new location on the Index Gateway. After the Index Gateway cache directory location is changed, operations such as pruning and restoring only apply to the new directory.

Before You Begin

Consider the following requirements when selecting a path for the new Index Gateway cache directory:

• A UNC path is not supported

• Grant full permissions for "Network Service" on the new Index Gateway cache directory folder

About This Task

After the Index Gateway cache directory is moved:

• Pruning cycles applies to the new location and pruning of the old location stops.

• The new Index Gateway cache directory only applies to new jobs.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell console, kill all jobs running on the Index Gateway.

2. On the Index Gateway, update the registry key with the new path for the Index Gateway cache directory:

   1. On the Index Gateway client, open the registry editor and click:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CommVault Systems\Galaxy\instance\DM2WebSearchServer

      where instance is the installation instance of the Index Gateway.

   2. Right-click the sZCACHEDATAFILESPATH registry key and click Modify.

   3. In the Value Data box, type the full path of the new Index Gateway cache directory.

3. Restart IIS services on the Index Gateway:

   1. In the command prompt window, type iisreset.

   2. Press Enter.
