Add an Oracle VM hypervisor to support data protection operations for all virtual machines hosted or managed by the Oracle VM Manager deployment.
Before You Begin
You will need the following information to add a hypervisor:

Install the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) on at least one virtual machine hosted on an Oracle VM Server that is part of the Oracle VM deployment. You can install the VSA on other virtual machines to create additional VSA proxies.

At least one VSA proxy is needed.

Identify the IP address for the Oracle VM Manager node.

Obtain administrator user credentials. The user account that is used for backups and restores must have administrative privileges for Oracle VM Manager, including the OVM Clone Operation privilege.
Start the Configuration Wizard

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Overview page appears.

On the Hypervisors tab, click Add hypervisor.
The Add hypervisor page appears.

For Select vendor, select Oracle VM.
-
Click Next.
The Configure Oracle VM Hypervisor wizard appears.
Add Hypervisor

For Oracle VM Manager, enter the fully qualified host name or IP address for the Oracle VM Manager.

For Hypervisor name, enter a descriptive name for the hypervisor.

For Credential, select existing credentials or create new credentials.
Create a new credential.

Click the add button
.The Add credential dialog box appears.

For Credential Vault, select the credential vault to save the credentials in.
-
For Credential name, enter a descriptive name for the credentials.

For User account, enter the name of the Oracle VM user account.
-
For Password, enter the password for the user account.
-
For Email, enter the email address for the user account.
-
For Description, enter a description of the credentials.
-
Click Save.

For Access nodes, select a previously deployed proxy that is a virtual machine hosted on an Oracle VM Server, or create a new access node.
Create a new access node.

Click the add button
.The Add a new Access node dialog box appears.

Choose the Download the access node package option.

Click the package to download for the appropriate platform: Linux (64-bit) or Windows (64-bit).

Copy the provided authcode to your clipboard, as it will be required during the package installation on the access node.

Install the access node by launching the downloaded package.
- Click Next.
The Add VM Group page of the configuration wizard appears.

Add a VM Group
A VM group is a set of VMs that you want to back up with the same settings.
You can add content to the VM group by using rules that auto-discover VMs and/or by selecting specific VMs.

In Name, enter a descriptive name for the VM group.

To create rules that auto-discover and select VMs to back up, do the following:

Click Add, and then select Rule.
The Add rule dialog box appears.

From the list, select the type of rule to create, and then specify the rule:

Browse: Select specific VMs. (Selecting this option changes the Add rule dialog box to the Add content dialog box.)

Repository: Select VMs based on their repositories.

Server: Select VMs based on their servers.

Virtual machine name or pattern: Select VMs based on their names. For example, to select VMs that have a name that includes "east", enter Virtual machine name or pattern | Contains | east.

Click Save.

To select VMs in other ways, do the following:

Click Add, and then select Content.
The Add content dialog box appears.

From the Browse and select VMs list, select VMs, and then Select the VMs to add to the VM group.

Click Save.

Click Next.
The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.
Plan

For Plan, select an existing backup plan or create a new backup plan.
Steps to create a backup plan

Click the add button
.The Create backup plan dialog box appears.

In the Plan name box, enter a descriptive name for the backup plan.

For Storage, select the storage pool where you want to store backups.
-
For the backup plan retention rules, select a pre-defined setting or create a custom setting:

To select a pre-defined retention plan, under Retention rules, select one of the following:

Select 1 month retention plan to retain the incremental backups for 1 month.

Select 1 year retention plan to retain the incremental backups for 1 year.
-
Select 3 year retention plan to retain the incremental backups for 3 years.

To create a custom retention plan, select Custom plan, and then specify the following:

For Retention, specify the amount of time to retain the backup jobs.

For Backups run every, specify how often to run backups.

Click Done.

The Summary page of the configuration wizard appears.
