Azure for snapshot storage

Commvault Cloud supports Azure (Azure Disk Snapshot, for Azure Managed Disks, stored in your Azure storage account) for snapshot storage. There are no licenses, protocols, or version/firmware required.

Supported workloads

The following workloads are supported:

  • Db2

  • Oracle

  • SAP for Oracle

  • SAP HANA

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Sybase

  • Linux file system

  • Windows file system

  • Virtual Server Agent

Required ports

Open port 443 between server computers, Backup Gateways, and client computers.

Snapshot names

Azure snapshot configuration

  • Naming convention: SP_CommCellID_JobID_SnapID

    • SP: Constant value

    • CommCell ID: The unique identifier for your Commvault Cloud installation.

    • Job ID: A unique ID assigned to each snapshot backup by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • SnapID: The snapshot ID created by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • Commvault: Constant value

  • Example: SP_2_5289_7376

Azure clone configuration

  • Naming convention: SP_CommCellID_JobID_SnapID_CLONE

    • SP: Constant value

    • CommCell ID: The unique identifier for your Commvault Cloud installation.

    • Job ID: A unique ID assigned to each snapshot backup by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • SnapID: The snapshot ID created by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • CLONE: Constant value

  • Example: SP_2_5289_7376_CLONE
