Configuring the Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX3/VMAX/Symmetrix Storage Array

Applies to: Dell EMC VMAX and Dell EMC Symmetrix

For IntelliSnap backups from Commvault software, add the Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX3/VMAX/Symmetrix storage array and its configuration information to the CommServe database.

Before You Begin

  • If you are configuring the inline replication feature, you must add and configure both the local array and the remote array.

  • If you installed Solutions Enabler in a directory that is not the default directory, then for any Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX3/VMAX operations to work, edit the SYMAPI_HOME_DIR additional setting with the directory where the Symmetrix SYMAPI library is located.

  • Do not create device groups on the SMI-S server.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.

    The Infrastructure page appears.

  2. Click Arrays.

  3. On the Arrays page, click Add.
