You can configure disk storage and define the backup locations which can be accessed by multiple cross-platform clients and backup gateways for writing the data.
The number of partitions created is determined by the number of DDB backup gateways selected during configuration:
-
1 backup gateway selected
- Two partitions are created on the single MediaAgent.
-
2 backup gateways selected
- Two partitions are created on each backup gateway, for a total of four partitions.
-
3 to 6 backup gateways selected
- A total of six partitions are created and distributed evenly across the selected backup gateways.
-
More than 6 backup gateways selected
-
The first six backup gateways are used to create the six partitions.
-
The remaining backup gateways are assigned the Deduplication Database (DDB) role only.
-
The software automatically assigns the deduplication database (DDB) path on the backup gateway without requiring user input.
