Review the following Considerations and recommendations before you use the NetApp Open Replication with SnapLock Enterprise and Tamperproof Support.
-
The clients, Remote MediaAgents, and Access nodes must be on Platform Release 2024E (11.36) or later.
-
You can only set days-based retention on the snapshot copies. Extended retention is not supported.
-
You must enable REST API on the array.
-
When creating a SnapMirror policy for SnapLock Enterprise, review the following considerations:
-
Rule with IntelliSnap label must be defined on the SnapMirror policy.
-
The keep count should be the maximum value allowed on the array.
-
Setting the retention period at Rule level is supported from ONTAP 9.14.1 onwards. Set it to a value greater than 0 days.
-
Commvault recommends setting the NetApp retention as low as possible than the retention on the vault copy as NetApp retention is considered from when the snapshot is copied and not from when the snapshot is created.
For example, a snapshot is created on January 1, 2024 and immutable retention is set to 2 days. If the Auxiliary copy is delayed for 5 days and ran on January 5, 2024, after SnapMirror update, NetApp sets the snapshot retention as 2 days from January 5, 2024 (snapshot copied date) and not from January 1, 2024 (snapshot creation date).
-
To ensure that the snapshots are not deleted automatically when the retention count and snapshot expiry are met, on the SnapMirror policy, set the snapshot retention count to the maximum number of snaps allowed by NetApp.
