Deploying a Commvault MediaAgent (Windows/Linux BYOL) from the Google Cloud Marketplace

From the Google Cloud Marketplace, you can deploy an Google Cloud instance as a Commvault (Windows/Linux) MediaAgent using the Commvault Cloud Windows Media Agent BYOL listing and select a Windows image. After deployment, you can subscribe to the BYOL packages directly from the Google Cloud Marketplace. The Commvault Cloud Windows Media Agent BYOL image includes all components required to support operations in a Commvault Cloud environment.

Important

Starting with version 42.40, access node images and Media Agent images are CIS Level 1 hardened. For information, see Certifications and Compliance.

Considerations

  • If your CommServe system is a more recent release of Commvault Cloud than the Backup Gateway, update the Backup Gateway to the same feature release after deployment.

  • Obtain the host name or IP address of the CommServe host. You will enter the host name/IP address during the procedure.

  • When you launch the instance, you must provide a key pair. You can use an existing key pair or create a new key pair as part of the deployment.

Procedure

Launch an Instance in the Google Cloud Console

  1. In the Google Cloud Console, go to Instances, and then click Launch Instance.

    Google Cloud opens a wizard to guide you through the deployment.

  2. Search for "Commvault".

  3. Display the search results for Google Cloud Marketplace.

  4. Select Commvault Cloud Windows Media Agent BYOL.

  5. Select an instance type.

  6. Identify a network and subnet that are available for the deployment.

  7. If necessary, add additional storage.

    By default, the Commvault Cloud Windows Media Agent BYOL provides 127 GB of boot disk and 200 GB of data disk.

Configure a Commvault Cloud Client for the Google Cloud Instance

  1. From the Command Center navigation page, go to Manage > Servers.

    The Servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

    The Add server dialog box appears.

  3. Click Complete the installation if software packages are already installed on your computer.

  4. In the Host name box, enter the instance IP address.

  5. In the Server name box, enter the instance name.

  6. Click Install.
