Getting Started with PostgreSQL in a Docker Cluster

You can configure and run dump-based backups for PostgreSQL.

Procedure

  1. Prepare a client computer.

    Ensure that the client computer has network access to the PostgreSQL server running inside the Docker container.

  2. Install Required Packages.

    Install the Commvault Cloud PostgreSQL and VSA packages on the client computer.

  3. Create a PostgreSQL Instance.

    • Create a PostgreSQL instance using the binaries and libraries located at the /CVCloudAddOns/PostgreSQL/ directory.

    • In the Port field, specify the value in the format .

    Note

    Only Dump-based backups are supported. You cannot perform FSBased backups for containers.

  4. Make sure the plan based schedules are attached to dump-based backupsets. For more information, see Running dump backups with plan-based schedule.

  5. Perform dump-based backups and restores.

    You can perform dump-based backups and restores after successful creation of PostgreSQL instance.
