Google Cloud for snapshot storage

Commvault Cloud supports Google Cloud (Google Persistent Disk Snapshots, stored in Google Cloud Storage) for snapshot storage.

Supported workloads

The following workloads are supported:

  • Db2

  • Db2 MultiNode

  • Microsoft SQL Server

  • Oracle

  • SAP for Oracle

  • SAP HANA

  • Linux file system

  • Windows file system

  • Virtual Server Agent

Snapshot names

Default

  • Naming convention: cv-CommCellID-JobID-snapID

    • cv: Constant value

    • CommCell ID: The unique identifier for your Commvault Cloud installation.

    • Job ID: A unique ID assigned to each snapshot backup by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • SnapID: The snapshot ID created by the Commvault Cloud software.

  • Example: cv-8dce0f5-11266-7987

Safe-point snapshot

  • Naming convention: cv-sp-CommCellID-snapID_hexa-revertJobID-seconds

    • cv-sp: Constant value

    • CommCell ID: The unique identifier for your Commvault Cloud installation.

    • SnapID_hexa: The snapshot ID in hexadecimal format.

    • RevertJobID: A unique ID assigned to the revert operation by the Commvault Cloud software.

    • Seconds: UNIX timestamp in hexadecimal format.

  • Example: cv-sp-e631587-35cf-27455-5ef987e4

Clone

  • Naming convention: cvclone-sourceSnapName-mount_snapID

    • cvclone: Constant value

    • SourceSnapName: The name of the original snapshot created on an array.

    • Mount_snapID: The mount operation ID.
