Licensing and Usage for Forest Recovery for Active Directory (Enterprise Edition)

You can view subscription usage in the Active Directory – Enterprise Usage Report.

Licensing

Licensing for Active Directory Enterprise Edition is based on the number of active AD user accounts, across all managed domains. An Active Directory domain is managed by the product when there is a Commvault Cloud agent installed on at least one of the domain controllers in that domain. An enabled user account is any user account in the directory that is not set to disabled.

For instructions about how to view these counts in your environment, see "Subscription usage" on this page.

License Enforcement

  • A Commvault Cloud tenant is in a state of overage if the tenant has exceeded their purchased user count.

  • When customers exceed 100% of their purchased users, the Commvault Cloud software sends an alert notification to all tenant administrators, asking them to buy more user licenses. The alert notification also warns the tenant administrators that backups will stop if the number of users exceeds what they have purchased.

  • When customers reach 100% of their subscription usage, they will enter a 60-day grace period. In that month grace period, they must reduce their users or purchase additional licenses. Customers should contact their Customer Success Team for assistance with purchasing. At the end of the 60-day grace period, the Commvault Cloud software stops customer backups. For example, if an overage is detected on September 20, backups will stop on November 20 if the overage is unresolved.
