You can run test backup for a VM or instance to verify that your backup configuration is set up correctly.
Note
This feature is supported only for VMware and Azure VMs.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Overview page appears.

On the Virtual machines tab, in the row for the VM, click the action button
, and then click Troubleshoot > Test backup. The Test backup dialog box appears.

Configure the following:

Transport mode: Select the transport mode for the backup job: Auto, HotAdd, NBD, NBD SSL, NAS, or SAN.
By default, Auto is selected. This option uses the best transport mode for the environment. This option is applicable for VMware VMs only.

Access node: Select the access node to use for the backup.
If you do not select an access node, the Commvault software picks the first access node that is specified in the Configuration area of the hypervisor associated with the VM group.

Click Test backup.
