You can update settings for a VMware hypervisor.
Requirements
To select a MediaAgent to recover UNIX file system data, a Linux access node must be deployed in your environment. For instructions, see Deploying an On-Premises Linux Backup Gateway for VMware.
Procedure
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Overview page appears.
-
Click the hypervisor.
The hypervisor page appears.
-
To control whether users can perform backups and restores for the hypervisor, on the Configuration tab, in the Activity Control area, click the toggle switch for Data backup or Data restore.
-
To specify credentials for VMware services such as NSX server, see Adding a NSX Server to VMware Hypervisor.
-
In the Options area, to change settings, click Edit.
-
VMware Cloud Director host name: To enable backups and restores for vCloud Director, enter the vCloud host name.
-
Username: Enter the username for the vCloud account. Do not include the domain name.
-
Password: Enter the password for the vCloud account, then re-enter the same password in the Confirm password box.
-
Preferred node for guest file restores: To configure a preferred node for guest file restores, click the Edit button
. In the Edit file recovery window, click Deploy New Linux Node. -
For application-aware backups, you can specify the credentials that are used to access guest VMs:
Guest Credentials: Specify a username and password that can be used for all guest VMs on the hypervisor.
-
Override time zone: Select a time zone for this hypervisor. This setting overrides the default time zone (that is, the time zone of the CommServe server).
If you change this setting and also change the Override time zone setting at the VM Group level, the system will use the VM Group level's Override time zone setting.
-
-
Click Save.
-
To skip the SSL certificate validation, in the SSL/TLS management area, move the Disable SSL/TLS certificate verification toggle to the right.
Note
If the SSL certificate validation is successful during hypervisor creation and the certificate expires, then backup and restore operations will fail. To resolve this, you can skip SSL certificate validation or manually add the certificate thumbprint.
To add a thumbprint, click the Edit button
next to SSL/TLS certificate thumbprint. In the Edit thumbprint dialog box, specify a valid thumbprint and click Save. -
In the Security area, click the Edit button
to associate users, groups, or roles with the hypervisor, or to specify owners and permissions. -
In the Access Node area, click Actions > Edit to modify the list of access nodes that can be used for the hypervisor.
To deploy a new access node for Linux, see Deploying an On-Premises Linux Backup Gateway for VMware.
