Using Volume Filters to Exclude OCI Instance Volumes from Backups

You can use volume filters to exclude specific OCI instance volumes from backup operations.

Creating a Volume Filter

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. On the VM groups tab, click the VM group.

    The VM group page appears.

  3. On the Content tab, in the Volume filters area, click the edit button edit button.

    In the Manage volume filters dialog box, do the following:

    1. Click Add.

      The Add volume filter dialog box appears.

    2. In the Volume filter type list, select one of the following:

      • Volume name or pattern. Select this option to exclude backing up volumes that contain a specific name or pattern.

      • Volume tag. Select this option to exclude backing up volumes that match a specific tag namespace, tag key, or tag value.

      • Volume type: Select this option to exclude backing up volumes based on whether they are designated as an OS disk.

    3. Click OK.

    4. Click Save.

Editing a Volume Filter

  1. In the Volume filters table, click the action button edit button for the volume filter that you want to edit, and then click Edit rule.

    The Edit volume filter dialog box appears.

  2. Edit the desired fields, and then click OK.

  3. Click Save.

Deleting a Volume Filter

  1. In the Volume filters table, click the action button edit button for the volume filter that you want to delete, and then click Delete.

  2. Click Save.
